What To Expect:

Our approach to Water Distribution Improvements brings a team of unique professionals and a comprehensive mixture of skills.  They are familiar with the complexities of building major projects in highly developed areas.  The focus is always on safety – pedestrian safety, traffic control, general patron safety and public relations concerns. It takes a major level of planning, management and communication to perform such a task without incident.

Communications

We execute projects with the best communications and public relations possible. We reach out to communities and organizations who may be inconvenienced, hosting a pre-construction meeting with all affected stakeholders. We encourage public involvement and we hold weekly project meetings to keep the public and stakeholders informed throughout the construction process.

Once awarded a project, we establish a project specific email address to be distributed as an additional communication method. Forty-eight (48) hours prior to any water shut downs, our project teams go door-to-door dispersing door hanger signs to notify communities and businesses. They communicate daily with individual businesses or residences regarding any disruptions.

Site Appearance

Walker Building Group strives to maintain a clean and neat job site. Unsightly debris and traffic control devices are not tolerated. All erosion control devices are kept fully functional at all times.

Preemptive Preparation

Our crews are well trained in excavation and shoring techniques. Known utilities are pre-excavated and elevations confirmed before any new water mains are installed.

Walker Building Group pre-excavates and investigates all water connections prior to any water shut downs. Only by taking this step do we know if long lead time couplers are needed, not just standard parts. This preemptive preparation helps to curtail unnecessary delays. We stage material deliveries to have minimal impact to traffic and business in the area.

With many projects, the underground detention space is in close proximity to other structures. With others, the initial site investigation may indicate a challenging geology. In such cases, additional caution saves money and time. To prevent any potential damage to surrounding structures and the bedrock formation we revert to a mechanical rock excavation.

We are well versed in structural concrete construction. However, we will team up with premier structural concrete companies and others to save time and money.

The Project and Communication in Phases

We work as a TEAM to determine the best construction sequence possible. This team approach gives us an opportunity to seek input from local businesses and residents to identify any special events that need to be planned around. We meet with our clients prior to finalizing any construction plan or schedule to determine the most critical areas on the project. Comprehensive communication, management and scheduling is the best possible approach to deliver a project.
